I’ve been the pulpit minister in Liberty since January 2018 after almost a decade at the Spicewood Church of Christ in the Austin area. I come from a long line of preachers, with my father, brother, both grandfathers, great-grandfather, and various other relatives serving in ministry roles on both a full and part-time basis over the years. But I never intended to go into preaching myself – you might say I sort of “fell into” it after seeing a need. Of course, the eye of faith doesn’t see any accident there, and I am thankful for the mystery of God’s providence working itself out in my life
I majored in history in college, and I often bring that into my preaching and teaching. History isn’t just dry and dusty facts; it is fundamentally about telling a story. And the story I want to tell is the history of what God has done in the world – especially through Jesus – and how we, as his people, fit into that. I’d love for you to join us at our assemblies and hear that story. And, more importantly, to make it your own.
I’ve been married to the former Abigail Lynn since December 2013. She is a kindergarten teacher at E.R. Richter Elementary in Dayton. In my spare time, I enjoy watching Texas Longhorns football, Astros baseball, reading, and playing guitar.
I hold a B.A. with high honors in history from the University of Texas (2008) and an M.A. in New Testament from Freed-Hardeman University (2014). I love school more than is probably healthy, so one of these days I hope to go back for more.
